The BlueBiome project investigates whether differences in the gut microbiome help explain variation in people’s responses to blueberry consumption. Our lab characterizes the chemical composition of the blueberry intervention and profiles metabolites in participants’ plasma and fecal samples. Together with clinical studies, microbiome transfer experiments, and computational modeling conducted by the broader team, these measurements will help identify patterns of response and explore how blueberry compounds and their microbial metabolites relate to cardiovascular health and inflammation.
