Biography

Chelsea was born and raised in China before moving to California for high school. She earned a B.S. in Chemistry at Chapman University in Southern California, where she researched main-group catalysis under the Liberman-Martin Group, served as a supplemental instructor for organic chemistry courses, and tutored at several local tutoring services. Chelsea joined the Borch Group in fall 2024 to pursue her passion for environmental chemistry. Her research focuses on contaminants of emerging concerns released during wildland-urban interface (WUI) fires, with an emphasis on PFAS, as well as developing surface-modified biochar for PFAS adsorption and treatment.
