{"id":374,"date":"2026-01-08T09:57:42","date_gmt":"2026-01-08T16:57:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/labs.agsci.colostate.edu\/roberts\/?post_type=research&#038;p=374"},"modified":"2026-01-08T09:57:42","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T16:57:42","slug":"tomato-studies","status":"publish","type":"research","link":"https:\/\/labs.agsci.colostate.edu\/roberts\/research\/tomato-studies\/","title":{"rendered":"Tomato Studies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<!-- block -->\n<div class=\"custom-block-wrappper text-block stylized lite top-spacing-default bottom-spacing-default\">\n\n    <p>In tomato, bacterial speck disease (caused by\u00a0<em>Pseudomonas syringae\u00a0<\/em>pv.\u00a0<em>tomato<\/em>) is both an economically important disease and an excellent model system to study plant immunity and molecular biology in a crop species.\u00a0 Speck disease causes necrotic lesions on fruit, leaves, flowers, and stems which reduces yield and makes symptomatic fruit unmarketable.\u00a0 There are many experimental resources available to the tomato-speck pathosystem, including high-quality tomato and bacterial genomes, CRISPR-Cas9 knockouts of over 150 immunity-associated genes, and many genetic and experimental resources.\u00a0 We hope our findings in tomato will not only aid tomato improvement, but also serve as a model for other crop species.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<!-- END block -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"featured_media":375,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":true},"class_list":["post-374","research","type-research","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/labs.agsci.colostate.edu\/roberts\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/research\/374","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/labs.agsci.colostate.edu\/roberts\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/research"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/labs.agsci.colostate.edu\/roberts\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/research"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/labs.agsci.colostate.edu\/roberts\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/375"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/labs.agsci.colostate.edu\/roberts\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=374"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
