\n\n Mentoring continues to be a major component of my role at CSU, spanning undergraduate research assistants, pre-veterinary students, graduate trainees in both CAS and CVMBS, and mentees at partnering universities. Mentoring included routine one-on-one meetings, develop professional goals, and gaining clinical-research exposure through hands-on laboratory and animal work. Our laboratory supported a substantial number of research assistants who participated in bi-weekly lab meetings, journal clubs, routine animal procedures, and continuous laboratory training. These students are developing as future scientists, and many are actively completing data analyses, co-authoring manuscripts, and preparing abstracts. Several students presented their work at multiple conferences in 2025\u2014including local undergraduate showcases, national meetings, and international scientific congresses\u2014highlighting the growing reach and impact of my mentorship program.

\r\nMany students received awards for their presentations (oral and poster), including at the Equine Sciences Society (1st and 3rd place Undergraduate Student Presentation), Equine Sciences Research Showcase (1st and 2nd place Student Presentation), Neuroscience Undergraduate Research Showcase (1st place Poster Presentation), and CVMBS Research Day 2025 (3rd place Overall Poster) and 2026 (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Veterinary Research Poster and 2nd place Translational Research Poster). Across all mentoring environments, I remain committed to cultivating an inclusive, supportive, and respectful atmosphere. Many of my mentees come from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, and several identify within the LGBTQIA+ community. A deliberate emphasis on inclusivity – within our office, laboratory, and field environments – ensures that every trainee feels welcomed, valued, and empowered to succeed.\n <\/p>\n \n\n <\/div>\n \n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n

\n\n In addition to mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, I play an active and ongoing role in the professional development of theriogenology residents at CSU. My mentorship of these residents focuses on building strong scientific reasoning, advancing clinical competence, and integrating research into evidence-based reproductive practice. I routinely provide guidance on experimental design, data interpretation, manuscript preparation, and the translation of current literature into clinical decision-making. Residents often consult with me for assistance on interpretation of assays and conceptualizing research questions that bridge basic science with applied theriogenology. I also support their preparation for ACT board examinations, national conference presentations and manuscript submissions, helping them strengthen both their academic portfolios and their clinical confidence. Many of these residents are international – and I remain committed to providing inclusive, accessible mentorship that empowers them to develop as independent clinicians, scholars, and future leaders in the field of equine reproduction.\n <\/p>\n \n\n <\/div>\n \n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n
